Viper 1.4

Jamie Rose. A fun, but basic, story with many, many elements one can recognise from other stories.

  • Hero arrives in a small town, where something isn’t quite right. But – in this case – he didn’t just randomly drive in, Joe is actually there because his team suspects that the town is being used by master criminals as a hideout.
  • Cute little kid is obsessed with the new superhero everyone is talking about, little suspecting that the stranger in town is really the superhero. For some reason, this episode really runs with the idea that the crime-fighting car is a superhero that children would think is cool. Odd. The kid also idolizes Joe and is gutted when he sees Joe walking away from some (hilariously OTT) street thugs who are trying to goad him into a fight.
  • Cute little kid’s single mom repeatedly chastises the hero, even though she kinda likes him. Eventually she helps, but initially she thinks that Joe is a violent influence on the kid. At the end when Joe is driving the car and kicking ass (in an explosive action sequence) she is conveniently knocked out and – later – doesn’t believe the kid when he tells her about the awesome stuff he saw.

I would probably go for Duncan MacLeod, but who do you think is the best 90s TV Action Hero?

Why isn’t Viper out on DVD?
