Superstore 2.9

The ending here is what makes this a great episode.

  • I love the idea of Garrett being the one who gives the inspirational speech at the end, the speech that gets everyone up and back to work (despite being terribly sick). And the tone of the speech was just perfect for the character. And the slo-mo bit? Genius.
  • This is the second episode in a row where I’ve been noticing how funny Nichole Bloom is as Cheyenne. Especially when paired with Mateo. Hope this becomes a regular thing.

  • The show is in a wonderful sweet spot right now. It is still new and firing on all cylinders and there is something new and fun every week.
  • The ongoing love story is playing out exactly like these things always do on sitcoms. But it works. And these last two episode really prove it. We are invested now. We care. And we want Amy and Jonah to eventually find their way to each other and be the perfect couple we all know they can be.
  • This was the funniest Nichole Bloom has been in the series so far. Every scene. Hilarious.

There’s a lovely twist in this one. Pulling the rug out from under us. And poor Amy.

  • All the storylines are strong. The pairing of Dina and Glenn driving the silliest plot, while we learn something serious about Mateo. The romantic pairing of Amy and Jonah is always cute. And this is where we meet his new girlfriend.
  • Realistically this is a standard twist, to be expected in romance-heavy sitcoms. But it is well done here, and really works.
  • Really enjoyed Marcus.
  • Garrett has all the best lines.

  • A Halloween episode with a slim storyline.
  • Some good moments (thanks to cast) raise it up.
  • A couple of scenes remind us that Jonah has a crush.
Presumably laying the groundwork for an Amy/Jonah romance down the road.

Great to see Johnny Pemberton back on the show. Very funny turn in a strong episode which – again – reminds us that Amy isn’t 100% happy in her marriage. Presumably laying the groundwork for an Amy/Jonah romance down the road.  9/10

  • Not just funny, but also full of fun (particularly the Amy/Jonah storyline).
  • The humour is glorious dark, too. A serial killer as a store mascot?
  • Delighted to see that the show is still using Michael Bunin. Funny guy. Been a fan since
    My Boys.

Some very, very funny scenes in the second half. The bringing together of the guns, crows and pills being particularly clever. 9/10

Pretty solid outing, surprisingly using the previous storyline a lot to generate new stuff. Colton Dunn gets all the best lines. 8/10

Several funny moments and a story with a serious undercurrent that isn’t revolved. 9/10

Dan Bucatinsky. Strong finish to the season. Didn’t expect the show to get ‘serious’ and leave us on a cliffhanger but it worked really well. The having-a-baby trope didn’t really work but it had to be done, I suppose. Biggest laughs in the episode? Probably
Mark McKinney as Glenn tried unsuccessfully to think of a name other than ‘Steve’. Very funny. 9/10
